That includes saxophonist Charles Brackeen’s Rhythm X, featuring the backing band of another modern giant, Ornette Coleman. With Don Cherry, Charlie Haden and Ed Blackwell, Brackeen’s debut album as a leader stands as a nod to the birth of free jazz and post-bop, spiritual jazz. Featuring audio cut directly from the original analog tapes, mastered by Kevin Gray and pressed on 180-gram vinyl RTI, housed in a deluxe gatefold tip-on package with never-before-seen photos and new liner notes.
